Red Rock Canyon and OKC Memorial

I met a couple friends yesterday at Red Rock Canyon in Hinton, OK.  The planned route was west from OKC on 152, then 37N from Cogar to Hinton.  I ended up missing the turn in Union City though, which added some unexpected but very enjoyable miles to the trip.  I ended up on 74th St, then Air Port Rd to Reno Rd, which turned into Ranch Rd.  Ranch Rd intersected 37, so the rest of the route went as planned.

Coming through Union City, I noticed this mural on the side of a building and thought it was worthy of a photo:

Dani, Clint and I pulled into Red Rock Canyon at the exact same time.  Pretty accurate timing considering we rode from different locations 70 miles from the canyon.  The entrance to Red Rock is very steep and winding, but unfortunately it's also short.  A 10-20 mile stretch of roads like those would sure be fun!

After leaving the canyon, we all took 281 South to Binger, then 152 East back into OKC and ate lunch at Toby Keith's.  We then rode a few blocks to the Oklahoma City National Memorial.

I've lived in Oklahoma City for nearly two years now and had never visited the memorial until yesterday.  It was a cool experience - very serene and reverent feeling.

Just outside of the memorial, chain link fence runs in both directions for visitors to leave whatever they wish in remembrance of the victims and survivors of the bombing.

This statue of Christ is positioned directly across the street from the memorial entrance.

And last of all.. here are a couple picturs from a quick ride a couple weeks ago around Lake Stanley Draper.

  1. What?! No updates? I haven't been riding much, so I need to ride vicariously through somebody. You need to start posting some rides!
